When I saw this in my local newspaper, I thought it must be a joke at first, but it's not. Here is what I read....

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Ice cream made from breast milk? That's what the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream to consider making.

The Virginia-based nonprofit group sent a letter to company co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield on Tuesday asking them to use human breast milk instead of cow's milk in their products.

PETA said the health of consumers and cows would benefit from the switch.

Ben & Jerry's spokesman Rob Michalak said the company applauds PETA's creative approach to bring attention to an issue, but believes that a mother's milk is best used by a child.

So, let me get this straight....to make it easier on the poor cows and because cow's milk is meant for baby cows, Ben & Jerry's should switch to human breast milk even though human breast milk is meant for human babies. Hmm....Doesn't make much sense to me. I think if I were to give away my breast milk, it would be better to donate it to a child who could benefit from it for health reasons. You can either agree with me or disagree on this mommy milk-ice cream subject. I don't expect everyone to see my views on everything I blog about, but this issue just seems silly to me.

Guilty Pleasure

The Guilty Pleasure Snack Game seems to be over at Tip Junkie, but I thought I'd share my own dessert that brings me guilty pleasure! I don't eat it very often, actually, I can't remember the last time I did eat one, but when I do get to ...whoa. I'm in heaven.



I first got the idea for a Cookie Monster from Cheddars restaurant. They served a fresh hot chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with vanilla ice cream on top smothered in homemade hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream and a cherry. The cookie is huge! I love that it's right out of the oven all warm and gooey. I haven't been to Cheddars in years, and I think the one in GR burned down, so I started to make my own at home. I make it super indulgent by using chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. If I'm really feeling naughty, I add M&M's. They are my weakness.

I always made mine by just placing a warm chocolate chip cookie in a bowl and adding the rest of the ingredients, but look what I found!
A Skookie! Now I can make my cookies in a skillet just like the one at the restaurant. This one can be found at Amazon. or at The Lakeside Collection. You can get it with brownie mix (wouldn't that be yummy!) or cookie mix. Of course, just using Toll House cookie dough would be perfect. Mmm.

Another indulgence that I like (also not had in years) is brownie pizza.
Brownie baked in a pizza pan with vanilla frosting spread on top. Toppings include sliced strawberries and Hershey syrup or hot fudge drizzled all over. You can also add bananas. Mmmm.

Ok, now that I'm drooling all over my keyboard, I'll go eat my Vitatop since I can't really afford to indulge in my guilty pleasures any time soon. I already had a Volcano at Whippy Dip this past week. Ouch.

Try it Tuesday.....York Mints

I kept eyeing these mints in a cute little tin every time I went through the grocery store check-out. I never bought any because I thought the price was a little steep. Finally, today I sucked it up and bought a tin for $1.67 at Wally World.

The tin is cute, but a pain to open. I was lucky that the mints didn't go flying all over from the force it took to open it. Maybe next time I dip into them, I'll get the hang of it.

I haven't seen the tin in this picture on the left. Maybe that one is a special one for the holidays or something. It's pretty though.


I guess I expected York Mints to be a hard mint (hard like a Tic-Tac) with a dark chocolate shell. Wrong. They have a white minty shell and the insides are a softer mint surrounded by chocolate. Not as soft as a regular York Peppermint Patty, but still, it was softer than I imagined it would be. They remind me of those small round colored dinner mints. You know the ones that I mean.... Richardson Gourmet mints.


York Mints are only 15 calories for 3 mints. Zero WW points! But really, I want to eat more than 3 mints. I heard someone else say that it was only 2 pts for the whole tin. But I haven't done the math yet, so I can't say that's for sure. I still wouldn't like to buy them too often because the price is so high. It must be the fancy tin. They make it look like these mints are gourmet in their cutesy little tin, but really aren't they similar to the York Bites that used to be out? Do they even make those anymore?




I also tried Nabisco's 100 Calorie Nutter Butter Chewy Granola Bars today. Nuttin' special as far as I'm concerned. They really don't taste like Nutter Butters, but they are ok if you want a pb granola bar. At 2 pts each, it's ok to eat but won't be on my short list of favorite 100 calorie snacks. They also make an Oreo and Chips Ahoy 100 calorie chew granola bar. I have yet to try those. I like Oreo's, but only the actual cookie. I can't stand the Oreo cereal that came out years ago. Blech! I'm also not a big fan of Oreo ice cream or the 100 calorie thin crisps in Oreo flavor. They don't taste anything like an Oreo. Sooo...I won't be running out to try the Oreo chewy granola bar any time soon.

Oh! I forgot! I have to rant a little bit here. I've mentioned before that I really love Edy's/Dreyer's Loaded Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream right? I still love it, but I'm NOT going to buy it any longer. Boo hoo! This is why....they changed the size of the round container! It's really really small compared to what it was before and they are charging the exact same price for it! What are they thinking? Did they think we wouldn't notice?! Duh! What a rip. I'm not a happy camper. I better write a letter. lol.

Try it Tuesday....Breyer's Triple Chocolate TWIX Ice Cream

Yes, I know...fattening right? It is. It's funny that Breyer's says that their Triple Chocolate Twix ice cream is "light". Har, har. There are 7 grams of fat in 1/2 cup. It's 4 Weight Wathers points per 1/2 cup. I guess that's not too bad, but considering I can get other ice cream for 1 or 2 pts per cup, I'd say that I probably won't buy the Twix kind for myself again. I'm not saying it's not tasty. I'm a huge chocolate lover as anyone can tell you. This ice cream was yummy, but not as good as my favorite Edy's Loaded choc.peanut butter.

The Twix description goes something like this....Light chocolate ice cream, mixed with caramel, fudge, Twix pieces and cookie bits. Hmm. I guess if I ate more than the 1/2 cup, I would've tasted all of those things. I really don't recall eating any caramel at all. I also don't recall eating the Twix pieces. I do, however, recall eating the fudge swirl and the little round cookie bits. Someone else who has tried this should let me know if there are actually any Twix pieces in it. Now....on to another ice cream product.
It was requested from Jillian's friend that I try Nestle's Peanut Butter Fudge Drumstick. So of course, not one to turn down a challenge....I tried one. Oh, I tried it alright. For 9 Weight Watcher's points! Can you say, "ouch"? It was truly yummy though. It was just what I expected right down to the fudgi-ness at the end of the cone. I love Drumsticks no matter what flavor they are. I expected the ice cream to taste a bit more peanut buttery though. But it didn't matter. It was delish. Hey, speaking of Drumsticks...did you know that the Nestle Drumstick is a division of Edys/Dryers? I had no idea. Edy's also makes Haagen-Dazs and Skinny Cow! I loooove Skinny Cow.

That's it for this week. I think I'm running out of things to try! Any ideas would be appreciated ya know :)

Oh, and I've added a picture of Mr. B eating a Pringles Pizza flavored Stix from last weeks try it post, so you can see how skinny those little suckers are. This week, I've eaten 2-3 packages of them. The more I eat them, the more I like them. Again, I just wish the price were lower because I'm cheap ;)
