Got Milk?

When I saw this in my local newspaper, I thought it must be a joke at first, but it's not. Here is what I read....

PETA asks Ben & Jerry's to use breast milk
1 day ago

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Ice cream made from breast milk? That's what the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream to consider making.

The Virginia-based nonprofit group sent a letter to company co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield on Tuesday asking them to use human breast milk instead of cow's milk in their products.

PETA said the health of consumers and cows would benefit from the switch.

Ben & Jerry's spokesman Rob Michalak said the company applauds PETA's creative approach to bring attention to an issue, but believes that a mother's milk is best used by a child.

If you want to read the actual short letter that PETA sent to Ben & Jerry's, then look here....PETA

So, let me get this straight....to make it easier on the poor cows and because cow's milk is meant for baby cows, Ben & Jerry's should switch to human breast milk even though human breast milk is meant for human babies. Hmm....Doesn't make much sense to me. I think if I were to give away my breast milk, it would be better to donate it to a child who could benefit from it for health reasons. Read this article about how donating breast milk can save an infants life at BreastFeeding.com.

You can either agree with me or disagree on this mommy milk-ice cream subject. I don't expect everyone to see my views on everything I blog about, but this issue just seems silly to me.

Dead or Alive?

My 10 year old son and I were watching the movie, "Stuart Little" today where I saw the actor Dabney Coleman playing a doctor. I've always liked him since I saw him in, "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" and " 9 to 5". I hadn't seen him in a while so I wondered if he was even still alive. That got me over to the computer to start googling. Don't ask me why, I just was curious.

I then stumbled upon the website, Dead or Alive. Ever seen this site? You can look up anyone that is famous to find out if they are still living. According to that site, Dabney Coleman is alive and is 76 years old. Haha. But what caught me about that site is the other things you can do on it.

For instance, I found out that I have been alive ~14,487 ~days! That's a lotta days. I'm old I know. I also learned that I've outlived Martin Luther King, Jr by 163 days,
Bob Marley by 1,244 days
and Marilyn Monroe by 1,273 days.
Aaaand, if I live for 37 more days, I will have outlived Malcom X.

Wanna see how many days you have lived? Or who you have outlived? Check it out here.
Oh, Pam and Holly- I was right about the guy who played McDreamy's father in, "Made of Honor" that we just saw for our GNO. It was Sydney Pollack and he just died on May 26th. See? I know my dead people.

I guess I could have saved this post for Halloween huh? It's kind of morbid I know, but I bet you will all check it out regardless right? Hee hee.

Another Rootin' Tootin' post!

This is funny. I cut and pasted from a website with strange new products. Don't ask me how I stumbled upon it...I wasn't looking for flatulence products...really!
But, with all the fiber I eat, I might have to invest in these! Kidding of course. Watch the video....funny.

A company called The Pond Inc. is now selling a product called "Subtle Butt", billed as a fart neutralizer, to eliminate smelly flatulence.

It's an activated carbon fabric pad, measuring 3.25" x 3.25" square, and adheres to the inside of your underwear with two self-adhesive strips.

As the wind breaks, Subtle Butt filters the flatulence, absorbing and neutralizing its odor. Now you can eat as many burritos you want and still have a social life.

Available in a five pack, they retail for $9.95 per pack here...

Bacon Exotic Candy Bar

Would you like a little chocolate with your BACON?!

I just can't get over this one. I stumbled upon this by accident this morning. The company, Vosges Chocolate, makes a bacon flavored chocolate. What?! They label it, "exotic". Ok, I believe them...but it's more on the weird side than exotic in my opinion.

The description is this: Deep milk chocolate coats your mouth and leads to the crunch of smoked bacon pieces. Surprise your mouth with the smoked salt and sweet milk chocolate combination

The title to this post is a clickable link to the company website and a description from the inventor as to why she decided to make chocolate with bacon pieces. Her long time dream?!
They charge $7.00 plus shipping for 3 oz. of the crunchy, bacon-ey weirdness. In case you're wondering...um,no...it won't be seen on any Try it Tuesdays in the future. Although.....It might make a good White Elephant gift for my family Christmas party!
