Try it Tuesday.....Sorbee Crystal Light Candy

Sorry this is a bit late...but it's still Tuesday, so I guess I'm good.

While in Wal-mart, I saw Crystal Light Lemonade Flavored Hard Candy. I thought the lemonade and pink lemonade sounded refreshing enough to make me want to try the candy. Knowing the candy was only a buck made it even better. Plus, it's sugar free which always appeals to me.

These smooth round candies are yummy. They don't seem to have any aftertaste at all. They are sweetened with Splenda. They also contain Isomalt. Not sure what that is, but I'm not dead yet, so it can't be too bad right?!

I really like lemon drops, but Crystal Light Lemon Flavored Hard Candies are better because they aren't rough on the outside. I much prefer the smooth texture of Crystal Light candies. They are only 25 calories for 4 of them. 2 of them satisfied me well enough. I think I'll keep a few in my purse and the diaper bag. Crystal Light lemonade candies contain plain lemonade candies (yellow colored) and pink lemonade candies. I couldn't really tell any difference in taste. Heck, has anyone ever noticed a difference while drinking plain or pink lemonade?

So what else can I try for Try it Tuesday huh? I'm running out of ideas. I mostly like to try food or drinks, so if you have anything that you think I should try, drop me a comment. Thanks!

Cereal City!

I love my husband.....he's a handsome goof that tends to go overboard when there is a good deal. In this case, he saved us tons of money, but now we are stuck eating varieties of Frosted Flakes and Mini Wheats for a year! I'm not complaining. We all love those cereals.

Here's what happened: He went to our local (over-priced) grocery store late one night to get some milk and other things on sale. He came back with several boxes of the cereal because they were only $2 a piece. I noticed with the receipt was one of those coupons. It said that we get $10 off our next shopping order because he bought 7 boxes of the Kelloggs cereals. Cool, I thought. So I mentioned it to him. His eyebrows went up and out the door he went. He took the $10 voucher/coupon thingie and bought more cereal. He ended up going thru the check-out several times in a row using the $10 vouchers each time. The check-out girl must have thought he was nutz. We ended up with 56 boxes of cereal!

So how much did he actually spend on 56 boxes of cereal? Remember they were $2 a piece. Buying 7 boxes at $2 each is $14. Minus the $10 voucher is $4 for 7 boxes. 7 into 56 is 8. So 8x$4= $32. Considering that normally each box was priced at $4 alone when not on sale, we saved a bundle! Good boy hubby.

Oh, and we get some freebies to boot.

With 6 'tokens', I figure I can get about 6 of these cheapo FM radios and give them out to my great nieces and nephews for gifts.

I love a deal and apparently so does my hubby.

Now I just need a bigger pantry to keep all this cereal! *sigh*

Come on over for breakfast!!

Try it Tuesday.....Jones Soda Candy

I stumbled upon these fizzy candies at my local Meijer store this weekend. I like Jones soda, so I thought I'd try them. I picked up the Fu Fu Berry flavored soda candy for $1.99. I thought that was a bit expensive for such a small tin. Otherwise I would've picked up the Cream Soda flavored candy along with the Fu Fu Berry. Oh well. I was a bit skeptical, since Jones Soda is known for their strange soda flavors (Turkey and Gravy at Thanksgiving, Ham flavored or Christmas Tree flavored at Christmas??!) I like the "normal" flavored sodas, so I took the plunge with the candy.
The Fu Fu Berry was ok. I wouldn't say it was fantastic or yummo, but I'd say it was a bit better than I expected. It was a bit fizzy, but not like those candies called, Zotz, that I ate as a kid. Remember those?! They were hard candy with a liquidy fizzy center. I looooved 'em! You can get a package of 96 at Amazon for about $20.

Jones Soda Candies aren't hard candy...the consistency is more like a sweet tart. They are much smaller than a sweet tart though. Don't get me wrong..they don't taste like a sweet tart...I was just talking about the consistency.

For 10 calories, you can have 4 of the little buggers. Not too bad.

Here are all the flavors that they come in (Although Meijer only had 3 of them)

-Berry Lemonade
-Cream Soda
-Electric Lemonade Sour
-Energy Booster (whatever that means)
-Fu Fu Berry
-Green Apple
-Limes & Orange Sour
-MF Grape
-Orange & Cream (sounds yummy!)
-Spiked Punch

All in all, I guess they were ok and I'd like to try the Cream Soda flavored sometime or the Orange & Cream. Heck, I guess I'd like to try most of them, but like I said before, are kind of expensive for such a small tin. But then again..the tin is really cute and I love the flip top, plus they want a dollar more if you order them directly from Jones Soda. So I guess I'll suck it up and spend the 2 bucks at my local Meijer. So now you try them and let me know what flavors you like :)

Pink Cake Box

So I made a chocolate pink polka dot cake for my daughter who turns 15 today. When looking for designs, I stumbled across a fabulous blog!

A lady from NJ has pages and pages of the most imaginative cakes! Take a looksee! ~Pink Cake Box~

Oh, and maybe I'll post a picture of my polka dot cake, but it's put to shame by Pink Cake Box's cakes....kind of embarrassing actually. Haha. So much for the Wilton course I graduated from. *sigh*

Funkified

Molly...funkified

Just having fun with the new features on Photobucket.

If I can't afford a Photoshop program right now (like some people I know! -smile-), then I can atleast play around using a free site. I heart Photobucket :)

Try it Tuesday...Skittles Chocolate Mix

First of all...thanks to Candy Addict for the photo since the Skittles site doesn't even mention their new chocolate mix that I could see. I guess I could take a picture of my own, but my camera batteries need to be charged :)

I saw these in the Wal-mart check-out and had to try them. My oldest daughter said they weren't worth my 50 cents, but I bought a bag anyway.

They say these are a chocolate mix of Skittles, but with only 2% cocoa in the whole bag, how can they be chocolatey? Oh, I take that back...there is LESS than 2% cocoa! Ouch. They have the same consistency as regular Skittles, but the taste is way off.

There are 5 flavors in the bag:

S'mores
Brownie Batter
Chocolate Pudding
Chocolate Caramel
and...
Vanilla (Since when does Vanilla taste like Chocolate?!)

I decided to try the Brownie Batter first, but it's nothing like brownie batter of course. It slightly resembles a Tootsie Roll (notice I said, 'slightly'), but again nothing like a brownie. Next, I tried the Chocolate Pudding. It wasn't too bad. I could actually taste a little bit of pudding flavor. Vanilla was just that...vanilla. Chocolate Caramel was nothing special and I didn't taste ANY chocolate at all. Same with the S'mores. There was a tiny bit of marshmallowy flavor. I'd say the S'mores was the worst though, but my daughter said it was the best. Ew. I tried to shake things up by eating a vanilla at the same time as another flavor and then mixing them all up in one bite. No luck in trying to make them better. Don't get me wrong, they weren't horrible, but I doubt I would by them again. You have been warned...save your 50 cents at Wal-mart for the original flavored Skittles. They weren't worth my 5 WW points either. On the bright side, they are dairy free and gluten free. Weeeee.

On another bright side....Mars isn't doing all that bad because I DO like the original flavored Skittles bubble gum! Yum.

And I would also like to try the Carnival flavored Skittles. They have flavors such as Cotton Candy, Candy Apple and Green Slushy. Sounds yummy.

I've also never tried the Ice Cream flavored Skittles, but it has a chocolate one in it, so I doubt I'd like that. If I want small chocolates, I can just eat the real thing...M&M's.

In da 'hood

I guess I had casually heard of these mini laughables, but never took the time to check them out. I saw one at Mormon Mommy Wars (see my blog roll) and laughed my patootie off. I really needed that laugh today, and thought maybe you might too. They star Jenny McCarthy, Leah Remini and Chelsea Handler. All funny chicks! Watch this one and you'll be hooked into watching the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one....

Try it Tuesday.....Oreo Cookies and Creme JELL-O instant pudding

Oreo Cookies and Creme JELL-O instant pudding and pie filling isn't new to some of you, but it is to me :) I don't usually make instant pudding. We are for sure a pre-made pudding kind of family. We were in our local over-priced grocery store on Saturday (if you live near me, you know exactly which store I am talking about) and spied this pudding mix. The kids just had to try it. I also bought the chocolate mint chip instant mix, but have yet to try it.

The Oreo pudding mix is made like any other of the Jell-o mixes with 2 cups of milk. I used 2% because it's Mr. B's favorite. He isn't a skim kind of kid. The powdered mix had chunks of real Oreo cookies (not many, but enough). They turned to mush as the pudding set up though. But it was still tasty. If you don't like the mush, you can always break up some Oreo cookies and sprinkle on top. We didn't though and it was just fine. I didn't eat much because I'd rather spend WW points a different way, but the pudding was really good. Jell-o also makes the Oreo no-bake dessert plus pre-made Oreo pudding.

Each 1/2 cup of instant pudding prepared with 2% milk has 180 calories, 1 gram of fat,0 fiber and 28 carbs. That's 3.68 WW points (4). Ouch. I'm sure making it with skim would be a bit nicer. Maybe.

Did you know that Jell-o make a FLAN flavored pudding?! Hmmm. I'd like to try that sometime!
